We are pleased to announce that next Sunday 19th April, the 6th International Symposium on Production and Establishment of Micropropagated Plants (PEMP 2015) will open six days of scientific and social events which are expecting to be of great interest.
The symposium is organized by Regional Institute of Floriculture (IRF, Sanremo) under the auspices of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS) and it is convened by Margherita Beruto.
At the opening session, we will have the pleasure to have the welcome by the mayor of Sanremo, Mrs. Alberto Biancheri and by eminent ISHS representatives : Rod Drew (President of ISHS), Maurizio Lambardi (Chair of the ISHS Commission “Molecular Biology and In Vitro Culture) and Margrethe Serek (Chair of the ISHS Section Ornamental Plants.
Scientific sponsorship came also from SOI (Società di Ortoflorofrutticoltura Italiana) and CIOPORA (International Community of Breeders of Asexually Reproduced Ornamental and Fruit Varieties).
We are grateful to all our sponsors, public institutions and private companies who supported our work. Special thanks also to all the companies that helped us with their cooperation during the organization of the congress.
As the convener of the Symposium I’d like to share with you my appreciation to the organizing committee, the scientific committee and the scientific commission for student awards. Last but not least, I’d like to thank all the invited speakers, who provided us a useful interaction under the scientific point of view and will give us endearing lectures during the congress.
To date, the participants of the Symposium are about 250: a true satisfaction for us, that highlight the importance of this kind of congresses.
The logo of our congress bears witness to the spirit that led us during the organization of this Symposium: the symbols of our territory are coming out from a flask. This represents for us a modern metaphor to understand the real meaning of the word Symposium: this term derives from the Greek syn + pìnein, “drink together” with the meaning of sharing time and ideas together. In fact, during the week we will have four different sections in order to exchange our scientific approaches and point of views and also many social events, giving us the opportunity to have some nice moments together.
I thank you all once again for your kind participation and I am looking forwards to meeting you in Sanremo!
The Symposium is organized under the scientific sponsorship of ISHS (International Society for Horticultural Science).
The event is endorsed by the ISHS Commission “Molecular Biology and In Vitro Culture” and co-endorsed by the Section Ornamental Plants.
